A Macy's Bag
When a client comes in for our services they receive food, formula and diapers, but they also get to shop in the clothing room for clothing, onsies, shoes, etc. The volunteer than bag these items for the clients to carry to their car. Yesterday, a volunteer was smoothing out a Wal-mart bag and a Macy's bag. A woman, who was about to get her things bagged, asked the volunteer if she could have the Macy's bag because she never gets to shop there. This made me think about how many times I have carried a bag out of Macy's not thinking about the bag, but the items it contained. How the little things I take for granted mean so much to someone else. I asked around the office what some of our employees take for granted: running water, soap, health, a bed. What do you take for granted?
