Teens Spend Summer Helping Babies
The media often portrays teenagers as self indulgent and immature. It is, of course, an age of growth, self-discovery and setting limits . But our Summer Teen Volunteers at Infant Crisis Services have been nothing but a blessing to us. They locked away their cell phones, iPods and concentrated on helping us serve babies and toddlers in need. Over sixty-five teens from a variety of schools and locations stocked shelves with formula, made diaper packs and rocked babies. We were very fortunate to have their help. The commitment to service these young people showed is important to our community and to Infant Crisis Services. The teens were able to see up close the sweet babies that were at risk for hunger. Those precious faces make an impact. Many of the teens added an in-kind drive to their summer volunteer experience. Those drives collected many diapers and cans of formulas. The drives took many creative forms from swim parties to old lady tea parties. We’re so appreciative to our teen volunteers!
This is Ginnie Tack. She spent her summer volunteering to supervise the teens. We are so thankful for her help!
