“Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.”
I am not sure who said those wise words, but it is one of my favorite quotes. Those words hung above my children’s crib when they were babies. Certainly giving birth is a breathtaking experience. That moment is just the first of many breathtaking experiences as a parent – first words, first steps, possibly followed shortly by the first trip to the emergency room, first day of school – the list goes on and on.
I had another type of breathtaking experience during my first tour of Infant Crisis Services. I found myself barely able to catch my breath, choking back the tears when listening to the heart-breaking stories of parents who are unable provide for their precious babies. I could not even imagine their pain and stress without my chest tightening with sympathy pains. During that tour I fell in love with Infant Crisis Service – its mission, the staff, the volunteers. What an amazing place!
When you support Infant Crisis Services with your time and resources you get to be part of the amazing experience. You get to be on team that lends a hand to our most vulnerable and precious asset, the babies!
My breathtaking experience while touring the Infant Crisis Services provided me the opportunity to see first-hand the importance of contributions of time and resources. When you support the Infant Crisis Services, prepare yourself to be part of this same wonderful, breathtaking experience. Before you know it, you too might begin to measure the value of your life by these moments too!
