History

Infant Crisis Services, Inc. began in 1984 as a Sunday School project at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Clients were served at the old Second Presbyterian Church at 10th and McKinley until the organization moved to its current location at 1933 N.W. 39th Street. In 1991, Infant Crisis Services incorporated, becoming an independent 501(c)3 non-profit agency. Now, what began as a Sunday School project has become a vital, social service agency providing a source of hope for more than 800 babies and toddlers in central Oklahoma each month.

Over the past decade, the Infant Crisis Services’ client level has doubled. When the community need began outweighing Infant Crisis Services’ capacity due to lack of space to serve clients, store formula and diapers and add staff, the organization knew it was time to implement their expansion plan. In 2007, the organization received a grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to build a new 17,000 square foot facility at N.E. 42nd Street and Lincoln Blvd. scheduled for completion in winter 2008.

Since inception in 1984, Infant Crisis Services has provided food, diapers, clothing and hope for more than 100,000 babies and toddlers. Services are provided a maximum of four times during the baby’s first 48 months. A referral from another helping agency is required and the baby must be present to receive services.

More than 600 volunteers donate more than 6,000 volunteer hours annually to help serve the tiniest of the poor and hungry.
