Healthy babies are our mission. We want to do everything we can to ensure babies grow up healthy and strong. Our main goal is to provide the life-sustaining essentials of food, formula and diapers, but we also know there is more that can be done. That's why a couple of years ago, we partnered with Safe Kids Oklahoma to provide and install car seats for low income or under-privileged families for a small fraction of the cost. Part of that program involves training our employees on proper car seat installation.
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, seven in ten car seats are not installed correctly. When families come through our door, our trained car seat technicians can immediately spot a car seat that is not properly fitted for the baby. Often, they can correct the problem right there during the appointment. Other times, the family needs an entirely new car seat, and we invite them of our next car seat event. It makes us feel at ease knowing that the children we help will be safer when the parents are on the road.
Just recently, our three newest staff members, Kynsey Lira, Mariana Roca and Andrea Pisani, went through extensive training to become certified car seat technicians. We now have six trained car seat technicians on staff. Congratulations ladies, and thanks to all our car seat technicians for helping to keep babies and toddlers safe!
For more information on how to properly fit and install your child's car seat, there are several resources online or feel free to stop by Infant Crisis Services any time. We will be glad to take a look at your car seat for you.
Our next car seat event is Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Infant Crisis Services' Donald W. Reynolds Center, 4224. North Lincoln Blvd.,Oklahoma City. Car seats are given out on a first-come first-served basis, so get here early if you are in need. For requirements and details call our main office number 405-528-3663.
